STEVENAGE COMMUNITY TEAM

Foreword by the Community Team Inspector:

Stevenage Community Team is dedicated to providing a quality service to the local community. We aim to do this through long-term problem solving, not by seeking quick fixes to situations. We work closely with the Borough Council and so we have based our staff around the Joint Local Committee system that the Council use for consultation purposes.
 
Each Joint Local Committee area is served by a Ward Constable, who tries to be as visible in the community as he/she can. However, the process of problem solving sometimes means getting involved in meetings and taking statements from witnesses, which obviously takes the officer away from the streets. This cannot be avoided if we are to achieve our aim of dealing effectively with crime, disorder and quality of life issues.
