Dear Watch members,
Next week (16 – 22 June) is National Neighbourhood Watch Week. This is an opportunity to talk to people about Neighbourhood Watch and its benefits to encourage more people to join a scheme or set up a new one. Contact your Watch Liaison Officer for further information on the events they are holding in your area and feel free to come along and support.
If you can’t make any of the events why not print the poster or flyer (attached) and put in your window or give out to residents in your area who haven’t joined a Neighbourhood Watch scheme yet.
Neighbourhood Watch schemes help to prevent crime by:
- Acting as a deterrent to would-be criminals by advertising that a scheme operates (Through street signs and window stickers)
- Helping to solve crimes and catch criminals through an increased flow of information
- Providing a ready means of disseminating information to members about local crime prevention initiatives, home security measures and local crime warnings
- Providing a basis for close public/police co-operation in responding to crime
- And it could also mean your home insurance premiums are reduced
