Domestic Violence
FREE LEGAL ADVICE SERVICE LAUNCHES FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE VICTIMS DOMESTIC abuse victims are being thrown a legal lifeline in the form of a brand new free 24:7 service from local solicitors

  • Every minute in the U.K. police receive a call to a victim of domestic violence.
  • That means more than 1,300 calls per day
  • 1 in 3 women at some point in their lives will experience domestic abuse!

Domestic violence is any form of-

  • Physical
  • Emotional
  • Psychological
  • And financial abuse

Which takes place within the context of a close/intimate relationship.

Domestic violence cuts across all classes and knows no boundaries

It also affects men and women and of course the children who live within the household.

The contact number is
Direct line
01438 757337

Appointments can be made or advice can be given by phone. Many details of other agencies can be supplied to you who may be able to assist you further.

It is important that victims report to agencies so that if evidence of their abuse is required at a later stage then this may be produced. Too many victims do not do this and then when the evidence is required there is very little to support their allegations.

ALL INFORMATION SUPPLIED BY YOU IS CONFIDENTIAL.

Every minute in the U.K.
Police receive a call to a
Victim of Domestic Violence

Hertfordshire Constabulary has trained its officers in the effects of domestic violence on the individual and the family unit.

Stevenage Police Station has a dedicated Domestic Violence Liaison Officer. This officer can assist in answering your questions and give advice to you regarding resources available.

We are committed to working with other agencies to provide a quality of service to our customers.

It is important that every time an incident occurs that you contact your local station as soon as practicable.

                                    WHY?
The police can help ensure your safety and has contact with agencies to help achieve this.

The incident will be recorded. This is evidence for you should the need arise for a criminal OR civil court case. A solicitor can & will request reports to assist your case.

 I LEAVE?

Any documents relating to your benefits. i.e.
Family allowance, income support etc.
Birth Certificates.

These are all needed for proof of who you are
and what help you are entitled to.
